Explore the world of Essential oils: care, quality criteria and conscious aromatherapy.
Essential Oils are not for playing with dolls!
It is very important that all those who use essential oils know that it is not because it is a “natural product” that it will not hurt. Because if it is misused, it can cause serious damage to its user. I don’t want to scare you, but to warn! That is why I advise anyone who wants to seek advice from qualified Aromatherapists, whose in-depth knowledge has as its main objective to help people rebalance their body.
To start/deepen this journey well and safely, I will share a series of criteria that for me are indispensable when choosing a brand to work with and the safe way to use it. My intention is for them to choose consciously and not just because a certain brand has a very appealing image… or because they say they are the best and most natural or even therapeutic-grade… because everyone uses them or because they have fabulous marketing!
Quality criteria when choosing an essential oil:
- Choose EOs that are in dark brown or dark blue jars, so as not to let sunlight in.
- The packaging should mention 100% pure and natural, as many brands, to make products cheaper, dilute the OE with vegetable oils.
- Mentioning only “natural” does not give any guarantee or assurance; we must look for and use EOs that have ORGANIC CERTIFICATION, to guarantee the absence of pesticides. Always look for the organic aromatherapy logo on the packaging! [Include organic icon, the green leaf as in our bottles]
- The packaging must mention the name of the plant in Latin with its genus, species and subspecies, as well as its chemotype.
Safety in the use of OE:
- Only the Tea Tree, Lavender and Mint can be applied directly pure to the skin, without being diluted.
- All other EOs must be diluted in an organic vegetable oil of 1st cold press, such as sweet almonds, macadamia, grape seed, olive oil, among others.
- Never ingest an EO without being diluted in a fat (such as coconut oil); putting an EO only in water and ingesting it, will damage the gastric mucosa.
- Many EOs are neurotoxic, so they should not be used without the guidance of a qualified aromatherapist in pregnant women, babies, breastfeeding women, children and people with neurological problems.
By using essential oils with knowledge and respect, they can be our greatest allies for full physical, mental, and emotional health!
A very aromatic hug,
